Wells, Schools, Orphan Care & More
There are many ways to open doors for the gospel. Drilling and digging wells in communities is a very powerful way to share the love of Jesus with an area. Helping to finance a school building where children will have the opportunity to learn to read and write. Literacy Centers which can be run through local churches to invest in fellow believers and others in the community who want to learn to read and write. Work done in orphanages and with local families to care for children in desperate scenarios clearly show God's love.
God uses each of the above projects and many more to open doors and build relationship here in Burkina. Investing in a village or community is done in partnership with local churches as they proclaim Jesus' love for all people. Below are some current projects which are waiting to be funded. Local believers are praying for God to provide their needs. Will you pray about joining us in supporting these projects to advance the kingdom in Burkina Faso?

WELLS
Hand Dug Well - $3,500Hand-dug wells, also referred to as a seasonal aquifer, are accomplished when you dig down far enough to find water during the dry season (January - May). We work with Burkinabe partners that dig, create a concrete sleeve on the inside of the well, provide a cap for security, and construct the well on a raised platform to prevent contamination from wandering wild life.

ORPHAN CARE
James 1:27 says, "Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world."
The Lord's call to care for orphans has been on our heart for a long time, so we are excited to help connect and support men and women of God who are sold out for Jesus and passionately pursuing the vision God has also implanted in their hearts. Below are projects which we are involved with as we see them being used by God to meet the needs of the least of these.

Orphan Care Project
Pastor F and his wife P have a heart for the care of orphans. Due to the extreme poverty and lack of quality health care, children are often in need of advocacy and intervention. It is all too common for mothers to die during or shortly after child birth. This leaves a family with no way to move forward properly in caring for these infants. With a very short life expectancy many families are torn apart by the loss of one or both parents. Many times extended family steps in to absorb these children, but unfortunately there are times when the family is unwilling or simply unable to care for and feed one more child. In a desperately poor country like Burkina Faso the numbers of children needing assistance is overwhelming.
In light of these harsh realities, Pastor F realizes that as Christians we are called to care for widows and orphans in their times of need. His vision is to see these children in families, but also realizes there is sometimes a need for immediate intervention until that can happen. The larger vision is not just for an orphanage, but a compound including a health clinic, small pharmacy for commonly needed medicines, guest housing for workers who come to help with the project, and more. Pastor F has been working for many years with local orphans and marginalized kids. Currently his program sponsors children who are able to attend local schools (French-speaking) and also provides a center (Jula-speaking) for others, where basic literacy and life-skills are taught. After several years of teaching, students are paired with local artisans to be apprenticed in trades with carpenters, welders, hair dressers, mechanics, tailors and upholsterers. There are currently about 40 children in this program. The orphan care center is becoming a reality! After many years of fervent prayer we are blessed to see this God sized vision becoming a reality. Through partnerships with our ministry, individuals and organizations much work has been accomplished. There are now many of the needed buildings in place and God continues to bring partners alongside to further the work. Please continue praying for this project as we see it begin to accept orphans and help marginalized children and point them toward God with the love of Jesus Christ. Contact us about ways to partner in further building projects at the center as well as monthly financial support to fund the work with children and families. |
