Pastors and church planters here in Burkina Faso are committing themselves to the Lord's work and a life with many difficulties. Often, just having enough to eat for their families is a monthly and weekly struggle. Burkina Faso is one of the 5 poorest countries in the world.
As you can imagine, the tithes in these village churches and church plants are not sufficient to supply even the most basic needs. These men and their families live at the most simple level you can imagine. They are hard working and are passionate about what God has called them to do.
Light Up Burkina counts partnering with these pastors as one of our greatest blessings and opportunities. Our goal is to help these pastors add an income source that will allow them to meet their families basic needs. By building a proper enclosure, providing start up breeding stock, and sometimes training about vaccinations and proper systems to put in place, these families will be blessed by a successful project.
The start up costs are not huge, but they are prohibitive for pastors who are already struggling to provide food, education and shelter for their families. Depending on the makeup of the village, we will focus on Chicken or Pig projects. Pig projects tend to be slightly more profitable than chicken, goat or sheep, but can be untenable in certain Muslim contexts. Your partnership will be a huge encouragement and life giving opportunity for these families to work hard and provide much needed income.
