Kristi had the opportunity to speak at a local church for their annual Women's Day celebration.  Churches here in Burkina choose one Sunday a year to focus on celebrating the women of the church.  Women do all the singing, teaching and running of the service and then feed the whole church as their guests.  It is a day that means a lot to women here in Burkina Faso.

Kristi was asked to give a message for this special day.  It was her first time teaching to a group in French! She did a great job.  A woman from church translated into Jula for those who didn't speak French.  All services here in Burkina are in multiple languages.

Above is a picture of the church, which meets on the pastor's front porch.  We are praising God that they are currently building a church building and it is nearly complete.  Below is the women's committee  with Kristi after presenting her with a gift- a new hat.

Here's the passage Kristi taught on.

Galatians 6:1-10

6 Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. 2 Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. 3 For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 4 But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor. 5 For each will have to bear his own load.

6 Let the one who is taught the word share all good things with the one who teaches. 7 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. 8 Forthe one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. 9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. 10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Blessings,
Aaron

New Moto for Pastor Enoch

In response to a newsletter article about funding motos for village pastors, a church in North Georgia felt led to partner with us to supply a moto for the furtherance of the gospel.  As you can see from the photos below, Pastor Enoch's moto was very tired and very old.  Pastor Enoch lives in a remote village with only a few believers.  He travels to at least 3 other villages to hold bible studies/services on a weekly basis and evangelizes in many more.

The gift of this moto allows him to travel more safely on remote roads and gives him and his family more mobility for ministry and to get into town as needed.  For $900 US Dollars you can partner with a national pastor/church planter as he daily takes the gospel to the unreached.  These motos are easily repaired and regularly last at least 10 years.

Not only are these motos a blessing for transportation purposes, but they are a huge encouragement to these men and their families as they see God's provision and prayers answered through brothers and sisters in Christ. There are many pastors and church planters in need of a reliable form of transportation. Contact us for more info or go to Light Up Burkina and donate on the moto page.

Blessings,
Aaron

Missionary Marriage Retreat

Last week we were blessed to be a part of a missionary marriage retreat put on by a visiting team from Legacy Christian Church in Kansas City, KS.  Their team of 8 blessed us and our children with 3 great days of fun and teaching here in Banfora.  The retreat was a true blessing to the 6 missionary families who participated.  We are all so thankful for their church's intentionality in hand selecting the couples and individuals who comprised this ministry team.

The younger kids had fun and learned biblical precepts, while our older kids had fun helping with the littles as well as spending time with youth leaders who poured into each of our kids throughout the long weekend.  We were both challenged and encouraged by our marriage retreat facilitators and the curriculum that they used for our time together.

I want to take this opportunity to say that your marriage is important!  So act like it.  Take the time to seek out wise biblical counsel, pray with your spouse, find a marriage retreat to help guide your discussions and communication.  If statistics are  right, then we need to fight for our marriages, because we are a picture of Christ and His church for those around us.  Read a book together, talk to longer-married couples in your church and study what your Bible has to say about marriage and self sacrifice.  In a world full of lies and false promises we need to cling to one another as we seek earnestly after God.  If you would like some recommendations on places to start, just send us an email.

In Christ,
Aaron

Kids Bible Camp - Banfora

The 2015 edition of our churches' Kids Summer Bible Camp just finished on Sunday night with closing ceremonies and kids headed back to their villages on Monday.  Rejoice with us as we celebrate 12 new followers of Jesus!  Many children came from village churches, but invited their friends to join them.  There were 130 kids between 9 and 15, with over 20 monitors and teachers. Kids came from as far as 8 hours away by bus to take part.  Everyone slept in just 4 classrooms. Lots of singing, dancing, games and most importantly learning from God's word.

Our family was blessed to be able to run the games for the camp this year.  We held a Summer Olympics with all of the "necessary" games like wheelbarrow races, water balloon toss, sack races, over/under relay and last but not least, 4 x 25m relay races.  Lots of fun and no major injuries to report!

It is no easy task to run a camp like this on a shoestring budget, but once again the church did a great job.  There was security provided by a local youth group, lots of women preparing rice and too (pronounced, "toe"- see pic below) and sauce.  Everyone pitched in to help and it was a great success.  Many local and village pastors took part in teaching and came to support the camp during opening and closing ceremonies.

We feel blessed to take part in a camp that is investing in the future of the Burkinabe church.  We made new friends, strengthened existing friendships and heard testimonies of the impact that these camps have in young peoples lives.  Our own pastor shared his testimony of how God used his time at a youth camp years ago to draw him to Jesus.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers.  They matter and they are making a difference here in Burkina Faso!  It is only through faithful partnerships that we are able to in-turn partner with the national churches and church planters to see the unreached come to Christ.

Please pray for all the camp participants and especially the 12 new believers as they re-enter family and village life.

Blessings,
Aaron
